Flimwell Planters Farm Shop Walk

Welcome back to Kent and Sussex Walks. Just a stone’s throw from Tristan’s house is Planters Garden Centre, where we’ve never actually been before. Isn’t it weird how you never go to these places when you’re under 30? We parked up at Planters, crossed the busy A21 and into the woodland. This walk takes you down a long hill before it opens up into beautiful meadows with lots of wildflowers. We bumped into the interesting old farmer, who was out picking some of his wild raspberries before continuing on.

There was lots of little wooden foot bridges, three stiles and plenty of nettles to be aware of, so make sure you pick up a nettle whack-a-stick. This walk is a figure of eight shape and it’s two hours long. If you wanted, you could just do the first loop, which would make it a shorter hour-long walk. After the long steady hill back, we stepped in the doors of the garden centre and got a whiff of that familiar garden centre smell.

There is a great selection of food here, almost a supermarket. The cafe was superb too, so many great options on the menu and a great selection of homemade cakes. We managed to resist temptation after a gluttonous few weeks in the Cotswolds and settled for a couple of coffees. The coffees were just what we needed and we relaxed in the great outdoor seating.

See you in the next one!
