Welcome back to Kent & Sussex Walks. Now if you love wine and walking this one’s for you!
We’ve wanted to do a wine tour and walk for a little while now and today we got our chance. We shot over to Charing for a walk finishing up at Westwell Wines where they offer food, estate tours and wine tasting. We parked up at Westwell and set off slowly down the road. Tris dislocated his knee last week whilst at the gym so it was a slow paced walk for us today.
It must have been serendipity because this walk has no styles. Instead it has about 10 kissing gates perfect for Tris in his handicapped state and perfect for any of you who are less mobile or if you have big dogs with you.
We were blessed to see calves today who seemed very inquisitive as well as an epic small herd of Shetland ponies who appeared to be pleased to see us and gladly received Chloe’s strokes. The walk takes you through Charing village which didn’t appear to have much going on today and then loops back through some potato fields before a short section of road and back to Westwell Wines.
We had a fantastic tour of this boutique winery along with a delicious wine tasting. Our tour guide was very good with lots of interesting knowledge about the wines as well as the history of Westwell. We tucked into a charcuterie board to finish off the day and to fuel us for the drive home.
This is honestly such a fun day out and you can find out more about Westwell in the caption.
