Today we shot over to Dungeness for a walk near the coast and across the flat shingle near the old power station. We parked at the Pilot Inn and finished here a couple hours later for a lovely bit of food. Great food with decent portions, well priced along with a great busy atmosphere!
We have put an alternative postcode location in case you’d rather the pub stop half way round: This carpark is located at (WWQP+X2X Romney Marsh).
The walk begins down a quiet road before it opens out onto the shingle. You then cross the steam train railway before crossing the road and entering the Dungeness natures reserve. Here you will walk between two beautiful lakes before it opens back out onto more shingle. Walking into Dungeness you will pass both the old and the new lighthouse which are a real spectacle, and if you fancy you can climb the old lighthouse for £5.
The path back can be taken along the quiet road or along the beach path before finishing at the Pub. Do be mindful if you have dogs, this walk is easy with no stiles and very flat, however a fair amount of it is on quiet roads, so something to bear in mind.
Have fun walking, and we’ll catch you in the next one 😄🚶
