Welcome back to Kent and Sussex walks! Tristan’s nephew and sister were staying with us at our beautiful accommodation in camber this weekend and his nephew loves sheep, so a walk just off the lovely sandy beach across the vast sheep covered Romney marsh was a perfect option!
What started out as a typical countryside stroll took an unexpected turn later on however… and we soon found ourselves facing a rather unusual rescue attempt!
A picnic on the marshes was our intention today so we hit up Blackbird Catering to make us a picnic which they delivered straight to our accommodation at the lovely Strand House. The picnic was superb, lots of little dishes with very good attention to detail!
The Galavant hotel is another option for lunch on this walk, it’s just across the road from the parking location and I’ve been before not long ago and the food was excellent.
This walk is an hour and a half long and is nice and flat which Rosie was thankful for as she’s heavily pregnant. A wee farm track to start and then we passed some chickens before the Romney marsh. We stopped to put Bodhi to sleep so connor and I had time to practice a few Calisthenics moves on one of the stiles.
We found lucky the sheep in the nick of time! Stuck up to the withers in a swamp and would certainly have been a goner if it wasn’t for our timely walk. We stacked wood to reach the poor creature, and then pulled it out and cleaned it off! A fair bit of effort but nice knowing it wasn’t going to suffer such an awful demise!
After the sheep rescue we wanted to get back home and clean off, so we ate the picnic in the lovely outdoor space at the accommodation of Rye & Beyond which we booked via 1066 country.
