Shipbourne The Chaser Inn Walk

Hey guys and welcome back to Kent and Sussex Walks. Today we drove to Shipbourne for a little hour and a half walk finishing at the Chaser Inn, a pub that a good friend had recommended. We parked up just up the road from the Chaser and put on our coats to protect us from the harsh elements. What a wet winter we’re having but just what the cherries need. Tris forgot his raincoat so took his favourite umbrella to keep dry. It worked as a great wind break but we got a severe battering from the howling wind. Maybe we should have brought the kite instead!!

This walk took us through the grounds of a large local estate, Fairlawn Park. Sheep were legion in the many fields surrounding the estate and the consequential short grass made for easy walking. We saw a picturesque bridge on a lake leading to a small island and soon we were walking through large crop fields before a small section of woodland. We were so drenched by the end of the walk that we grabbed a change of clothes from the car to slip into at the pub.

We were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff at the Chaser and ordered some hearty food. The hummus to start was really good as well as the nice thick pita. Chloe went for a healthy lemon cod and I couldn’t resist getting the large mixed roast. The food was delicious, we’ll definitely be coming back. We were pleased the pub was at the end of the walk rather than the middle because we were stuffed!
