Hey guys and welcome back to Kent and Sussex Walks.
Today was a special day because we’ve completed our first walk that’s not a loop!
This awesome point-to-point walk takes you from Tunbridge Wells to The Beacon where we had an incredible afternoon tea, our first one ever, before a lovely scenic walk into Groombridge where there’s the choice to ride home on the Spa Valley steam train or the slightly less glamorous public bus.
We parked up at the bottom of Tunbridge Wells and took the little array of footpaths and back roads that lead you out of town. There’s a section that takes you past some marvellously extravagant houses before some beautiful rock formations lead you to the Beacon.
The Beacon is an incredible experience and really deserves its reputation as the venue with the best views. We had perfect weather to sit out on the balcony and enjoy their newly launched afternoon tea which is offered from Wednesday to Friday. The food here is top quality, locally sourced and with amazing attention to detail.
We carried on down the lane and into the woodland before a lovely open section with cows and horses. The River Grom runs right by your side until you reach the amazing moated Groombridge Place. We couldn’t think of a more fun way to get back to town than the Spa Valley steam train and it happened to be open for us today. But on the days the train isn’t running there’s the option to get back to your car on the public bus that runs every hour or so. We got the diesel locomotive back to town to top off one of our favourite walks ever.
