Bedgebury Forest Cafe Walk

Welcome back to Kent and Sussex Walks. It was a night in a Bell tent for us on the edge of Bedgebury Forest. So the following morning, we zipped up the tent and ventured into Bedgebury in search of the cafe, as well as an elusive waterfall that appears on OS maps. If you’re not staying at Stay at Forest Edge Glamping, you can park up for free here on the A21, and that means you’ll have the Bedgebury Cafe halfway around the walk, as well as avoiding the eye-watering 14-pound parking at the Bedgebury Pineton.

This walk is another great one if you have kids, as all of the paths are gravel and there are no stiles either. These gravel paths are great in the winter too, as they never get muddy. We searched high and low for this waterfall and finally found it, but it was far less breathtaking than we had imagined. The cafe was bustling with parents and children, and we sat down with a coffee and enjoyed the atmosphere and the views across the lake.

We passed several mountain bikers on the way back to the tent, and decided to take the bikes out ourselves for a spin later that evening, before a barbecue and marshmallows around the campfire before bed. If you want to stay here, it’s actually so lovely, and they have a shepherd’s hut too. They have horses, ducks, and chickens as well.
