Welcome back to Kent and Sussex walks!
Today for our walk we drove over to Bewl Water where we enjoyed a short hour and a half walk that takes you right along the waterfront. We’ve recently got a Bewl water membership, and you get lots of great benefits like 10% off at the waterfront cafe and free soft play- it’s going to come in really useful for us with Bodhi when he’s a bit older! Without the membership parking is free for half hour or £8.50 for all day.
We set off past the Bewl Water campsite before a little back road takes you to the gorgeous waterfront where the warm Kentish sun was shimmering across the top of the water. The track around Bewl is for bikes as well as walkers and runners and it’s teaming with energy!
It was a relaxing and flat stroll along the waterfront before a heart raising climb up a hill which opens up great views over the reservoir. We stopped for a short break to cool down at the top of the hill before continuing on, passing some sheep and out onto the top road. The next footpath was slightly too overgrown for us to get through which is a first! See if you can whack some of the foliage back and make it through but if not it’s not long on the main road before the turning off onto a quiet back road that leads back towards to the cafe.
We scanned a QR code on the way round and it takes you to Bewl’s Strava where loads of people are tracking their activities and sharing pictures of their excursions around the reservoir. With all this competition Tris wants to come back on the BMX and finally get that sub-1 hour time that he once got so close to!
We stopped off quickly at the epic play park and Tris tested out the slide before we got to the cafe for some lunch at the cafe.
The waterfront cafe is in such an epic location with great views. We stopped for a nice bite to eat where Tris would definitely recommend the dirty fries! His burger was good too and Chloe had a jacket potato and some healthy hummus and carrots, followed by a delicious ice cream!
So if you’d like to do this walk the link below takes you to the OS Map with the full route. See you in the next one!
