Welcome back to Kent and Sussex walks! Bodiam in East Sussex was our walk destination today where we passed right by the incredible Bodiam castle and the Kent and East Sussex steam railway before finishing up for a bit of lunch at The Hub Cafe. Bodiam is in the lovely 1066 country so we were excited to explore today!
We had been staying at The Bell in Ticehurst this weekend which is definitely worth checking out; one of just a few pubs I’ve ever been to with a really electric vibe, and eclectic style. Fortunately they had another umbrella for us to liberate; this week for the rain and not that sun! I’d been waiting for a rainy day to wear my novelty umbrella hat too, so today was a great day!
This footpath from The Hub cafe takes you right along the River Rother before coming out onto the road right by the castle. The Castle is really special, you don’t get many fully moated castles in the UK especially in such marvellous condition so we stopped in for a look around. The Kent and East Sussex steam railway is another great point of interest you’ll pass along the way and don’t worry there were plenty of awesome sheep fields too.
The Hub Cafe is a great little spot we’ve been too previously. Lovely staff and bustling with family’s and children as there are loads of kids activities and camping here. We had some ice coffees, chicken hummus salad and some waffles for dessert. A pukka bit of tucker for sure. All very tasty and well priced too.
