Fordcombe Chafford Arms Walk

Welcome back to Kent and Sussex Walks. Today we went on a gorgeous two-hour walk around Fordcombe on what turned out to be one of the nicest days of the year. We stopped halfway round at the Chafford Arms for a drink and Tris polished off a delicious roast dinner. The parking was really simple at the side of the road just past the bridge on Chafford Lane and we’ve included the postcode for you in the description.

This walk takes you through lovely open crop fields as well as woodlands and meadows. You’ll cross a handful of roads and do be careful as one footpath comes out on a fast main road with no pavement. You have to walk down this road for a short way as well but on the plus side it’s pretty straight so the cars do have time to slow down.

As Kent is the most famous region of the UK for hop cultivation we were so pleased to see some wild hops growing amongst the hedgerows. A sight to behold! The Chafford Arms was a welcome break. It was genuinely such a good pub. The food was tasty, well-priced and epic portion sizes. It also wasn’t overly busy as most pubs are on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it had the most beautiful beer garden. We could have happily stayed here for hours.

So if you’d like to do this walk click the link to find the ordinance survey route. See you in the next one!
