Hartfield Pooh Corner Tea Room Walk

Hey guys and welcome back to Kent and Sussex Walks. Today for our walk we went on a mighty three hour walk around the lovely Sussex countryside. Our food stop today was the famous Pooh Bear Tea Room in Hartfield, which is such a great place to eat and we also had time to explore the adjoining Pooh Bear Museum. The parking for this walk is nice and simple right on the high street of Hartfield where there are no parking restrictions.

However, for us today we had a different starting point. We had stayed the night in an awesome shepherd’s hut at Highfields Estate, a high-class local estate with beautiful holiday accommodation. This meant that for us the tea room break was halfway around the walk rather than at the end, so we wrapped up warm and made a couple of steaming coffees for the mission ahead before setting off. Before long we were walking amongst some awesome white cows that we later found out to be Highfield Estates beef cows that are used to supply local pubs.

One section of this walk was a little muddy, but luckily for us our boots passed the waterproof test. Wahoo! The walk will take you past the church before arriving in Hartfield Village. The tea room was just as lovely as it has always been and we munched down some hearty grub before looking around the Pooh Bear Museum, such an interesting place and a real part of this village’s heritage.

The rest of the walk took us through woodland and sheep fields with a lovely stretch on the nice and flat Forest Row Cycling Trail. We got back to the shepherd’s hut just before dark and stoked the fire to warm up. This walk is dog friendly with the tea room allowing dogs as well as only a couple of styles. Just be sure to keep your dog on a lead around the livestock.
