Heathfield Pink Cabbage Cafe Walk

Hey guys and welcome back to Kent & Sussex Walks. A friend of ours suggested we walk along the Cuckoo Trail in Heathfield, so today that’s where we ended up. We parked up just off the main road by the Run-In-Tun pub and headed up the small boggy footpath by the side of the pub. The beginning of this walk takes you through fields and up a long farm track down a quiet stretch of road before you walk along a section of the Cuckoo Trail, a disused railway line.

The kids play park was right on our route and we didn’t miss the opportunity to cross the wobbly bridge and bomb down the slide before continuing on to the Pink Cabbage Cafe. The halfway cafe stop turned out to be a great little find. It’s a former train station and they have a great menu and well-priced food. Trist had the full English, moving him closer to his protein quota for the day and we both sipped a lovely coffee. They close at 2 on Sundays, so make sure you don’t miss out. This was a tasty breakfast!

The second half of the walk was mostly woodland with lots of bridges over little streams. We passed some fluffy cows but unfortunately couldn’t entice them over. At the end of this walk there is of course the option to stop at the Run-In-Tun pub. We looked at the reviews and it seemed another solid option.
