Hey guys and welcome back to Kent and Sussex Walks.
We have known about this little gem of a pub called the Salehurst Halt for a little while. So today we headed down to Salehurst for a great two-hour walk and had lunch at the pub at the end. The parking for this walk is right outside the pub and the first section of the walk takes you through a peculiar graveyard full of rams. They seemed harmless enough but if you’re worried there is an alternative footpath you can use.
Tris was rocking his flash new high-viz ordnance survey coat as we were meant to be in for rain today. But we must have been blessed as the rain passed right by us and the sun even made a brief appearance. You’ll cross the bulging Rither Rother on this walk as well as a cute horse. We saw some damsons and really wanted to pick them but unfortunately there was no low-hanging fruit. We passed a nice hot field before a gradual hill back to the pub.
The Salehurst Halt really lived up to its name. This place is seriously cool. The garden was so nice full of beautiful flowers with an amazing pergola covered in grapevines. The food was excellent. Great portions and amazing attention to detail. It’s no wonder this place was packed. We’ll definitely be coming back.
There were four styles on this walk all with good dog access and the pub is dog friendly also. So if you’d like to do this walk click the link below to find the ordnance survey route. See you in the next one!
