Hey guys and welcome back to Kent and Sussex Walks. We wanted to do a walk on the longer side today so we parked up on a quiet back road at Tudeley Woods and set off for the newly refurbished Vauxhall Inn an hour and a half away.
The first bit of this walk takes you under the A21 and then along a section of the old A21 before it was upgraded to a dual carriageway. This bit of road is really open and quiet. We had chosen a different footpath to avoid some of this road walking but had to turn around as unfortunately it was closed due to a load of building works. We had epic views as we walked along, saw a bird of prey circling overhead and walked past horses too on the way to the pub.
The Vauxhall Inn was a great pub to stop into for some food and drink. It was quiet today as we were here late on a Sunday but we loved the peaceful vibes. Tris changed it up from his typical roast dinner as the lamb shank pie sounded amazing and it was a great decision. They were more than happy to make Chloe a salad too even though it wasn’t on the menu today which was delicious.
The walk back to the car takes you through the lovely grounds of Summerhill School where we stopped to pick some wild blackberries. You’ll also walk along a section of the Tunbridge Wells Circular on this walk which we have been debating conquering in its entirety. A whopping 27 miles so keep your eye out for that beast.
